Tom Ulmer, 88 Dies at Sedalia

  Thomas Ulmer, a former resident of the Hopkins community passed away Tuesday, February 19, at Sedalia, MO., where he resided. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Mack Ulmer and was born at the Ulmer farm home. Three miles southwest of Hopkins, now known as the Davidson Ranch.

  He was 88 years of age at the time of his death. He was a stockman and farmer and owned and operated a farm south of the Good Hope Church. His wife, was the former Lucy E. Pope, daughter of late Thomas Pope of Maryville. She died in July 1938. The family left here going to Sedalia in 1909 where he resided 20 years. He then returned to Maryville but went again to Sedalia where he continued to reside.

  Funeral service were held at 9 o'clock Thursday morning at St. Patrick's church in Maryville.

  Survivors are 8 sons, Mack Ulmer of Hopkins, Walter C. Ulmer, of Rosendale, Mo., Rolla C. Ulmer, Bruce F. Ulmer, Pearl N. Ulmer, Edgar E. Ulmer, and True J. Ulmer of Sedalia; Carl Ulmer of Blanchard, Iowa, and one daughter, Mrs. Nina Hartman of Denver, Colo.; two brothers, Charles Ulmer of Coin, Iowa, and George Ulmer, Jr. of Denver, Colo., 30 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.

  Burial was in the St. Patrick cemetery in Maryville.
