John and Azariah McClain or shown living two households apart from each other on page 139. William is shown two pages away from John and Azariah, on page 137.
William appears to be the oldest McClain, of these three McClain households listed in the 1800 census for Springfield Township, Huntingdon County, PA..
This is some indication of William as being an older brother of John. William still has young children in his household (as does John), so I don't believe William is the father of this John, but rather an older brother of John. He could be a cousin, but other census and evidence indicate they were probably brothers.
